Title: Survey of some open problems and interesting directions in dynamical systems and related areas. I. Center for Dynamics and Geometry Seminars Anatole Katok, Penn State I will describe certain problems and directions of research at the NON-TECHNICAL LEVEL with an emphasis on directions and areas that are not overworked and where sustained effort may bring tangible progress. This will include, among others, some updates on selected problems among five most resistant'' that I identified in my 2004 MSRI/Berkeley colloquium, see http://www.math.psu.edu/katok_a/pub/5problems-expanded.pdf as well as the elliptic dynamics'' program that I discussed at the Working seminar in the fall of 2009, see http://www.math.psu.edu/katok_a/elliptic.pdf Graduate students, who consider working in the dynamical systems or related areas are particularly welcome to attend, as well as colleagues who are just interested in what's up'' in an exciting research area. Depending on the level of interest, I plan sequel(s) later in the semester at this seminar and/or at the working seminar Dynamics and its working tools''.
