| From the point of view of geometric K-homology, the proof of the Atiyah-Singer index formula naturally breaks up in two clearly separate steps: first you derive the index formula for Dirac operators, and then you show that the problem for general elliptic operators reduces to Dirac operators, using Bott periodicity. In this talk I discuss a simple approach to the second step. |
