| Title: | Orbifold Elliptic Fibrations |
| Seminar: | Algebra and Number Theory Seminar |
| Speaker: | Evgeny Mayanskiy, Penn State University |
| Abstract: |
| One of the diamonds of the complex surface theory is Kodaira's
classification of singular fibers of elliptic fibrations. We will
consider what happens for orbifolds.
By an orbifold elliptic fibration we mean a proper surjective
morphism from a smooth 2-dimensional complex-analytic orbifold to a
smooth (non stacky) complex curve such that the general fiber is a
smooth torus.
We will see the complete list of all possible stacky fibers (with
trivial generic stabilizers) for minimal orbifold elliptic fibrations,
and then discuss what stacky structure may appear along components of
the fibers.
In the end we will give a moduli perspective on these results.
This is a report on our work in progress, where we study stacky
elliptic surfaces. |
