|Title:||“Inspiring your inner physicist – using simple physics to motivate and produce elegant solutions in your mathematics classes ”|
|Speaker:||Mark Levi, Penn State|
|Can physics simplify mathematical proofs, and lead to quicker solutions and new theorems? Can physical solutions illustrate why results are true for your students in ways lengthy mathematical calculations never can? Can physical reasoning illuminate mathematical ideas? OK – just a couple of examples - did you know that it's possible to derive the Pythagorean theorem by considering a fish tank filled with water? Or that some min/max problems are easier to solve by physical reasoning than by calculus?
Come to be challenged, come to release your inner physicist, come to be entertained, come to have some fun!|
