Textbook Partial Differential Equations, by L. Evans, AMS, ISBN 0-8218-0772-2, 1998

Short description Chapters 1-3 with selected additional topics as time permits

Classroom We meet in 106 McAllister .

Prerequisites MATH 411 or MATH 412;

Exams There will be one midterm exam, the final exam, and the term project (takehome portion of the final). Date for the midterm will be announced in class at least one week in advance.

Missed Exams In case of a conflict the student may sign up for a conflict exam. Make up exams are given by arrangement with the instructor only for students who have a valid verifiable reason (for example, illness, official University conflict). The student is responsible for presenting a valid verifiable reason to the instructor.

Grading The course will be based on homeworks, midterm, term project and final. Points will be appropriated as follows:
Total homework 100 points total.
Midterm 100 points .
Final 100 points.

Homeworks Subject to the availability of a grader, homework will be assigned each week and due one week later. No late homework will be accepted. The two lowest scoring homework assignments will be disregarded. There will be no make-ups for the homework.
