Research Experiences for Secondary School
Teachers (RESST)
The Mathematics of Fluids and Solids in
Motion
- As part of the educational and outreach
initiative of my NSF CAREER funding, there will be an opportunity
each summer for high school mathematics teachers to join our research
program in the mathematics of polymer fluid dynamics and other
topics. Similar to the NSF's REU program, this pilot program will
allow one teacher in the Pritchard Lab for 2 months during the
summer, to pursue a research project related to some aspect of macromolecular
fluid dynamics, either analytic, numerical, or experimental. The
participant will be fully integrated into the group, attending and
taking part in our informal seminars, and also taking advantage of
the REU summer courses in mathematics offered through our
department's program.
