Faculty Positions, Department of Mathematics
Subject to availability of funding, the Penn State Mathematics Department will seek to fill openings for S. Chowla Research Assistant Professor and tenure and tenure track faculty positions.
S. Chowla Research Assistant Professor
Successful candidates will be new or recent Ph.D.s with exceptional research potential and a commitment to excellence in teaching. These non-tenure-track appointments are for three years. Starting salary is $51,500 for the nine month academic year. The Chowla program is designed to maximize the professional development of its participants and provides a research stipend. The Department may in addition make other postdoctoral appointments. Applicants for the Chowla position will automatically be considered for these positions also. Initial offers will be made in January 2012.
Tenure or Tenure Track Faculty Position
This position may be at the assistant, associate or full professor level dependent on the qualifications and experience of the appointee. The area of emphasis for hiring includes partial differential equations, dynamical systems, and geometry. However, outstanding candidates from all areas of mathematics will be considered. A Ph.D. degree or its equivalent is required.
